Social media users are outraged after photos of a dog with five tattoos on its face surfaced online.

The pictures were posted on Facebook by the dog’s owner, the Daily Mail reported. Brazilian lawyer Fernanda Soares was the first to notice them and draw attention to them.

In the photos, a bull terrier is seen with tattoos of an anchor, a pair of brass knuckles and a diamond on its nose. A pair of stars are tattooed next to the dog’s eyes and the logo of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team appear on both ears.

The dog’s owner was later identified as Emerson Damasceno, a tattoo artist from Pocos de Caldas in Brazil. He deleted the images from his Facebook account after he learned that he was about to become the subject of an online campaign against animal cruelty.

Damasceno claimed the tattoos were done because he believed they would help protect the dog from cancer. His girlfriend supported that claim, saying the dog was tattooed after they visited a veterinary school in the city, The Sun reported.

But the veterinary school has denied any involvement and condemned Damasceno’s actions. Experts confirmed that the tattoos done on the dog had no obvious benefits, and could actually cause problems.

It sickens me when I see how parents raise their children these days. The lack of kindness and compassion never ceases to amaze me.

This incident happened in China, a country where few people have any respect for animals whatsover; but seeing children growing up in this world and picking their parents’ habits with regards to animal abuse just makes me livid.

This recently surfaced footage shows a group of children burying an innocent dog in the sand while their parents records the outrageous scene.

This happened on a beach in Sanya, a city on the southern end of China’s Hainan Island, a very popular place for sun bathing. While the children seem to be having the time of their lives, the puppy clearly isn’t enjoing the experience, just look at his face, he is begging to be taken out of there.

This is not something you teach your children and this is not something you encourage them to do. You can’t behave like this towards a helpless pet.

As distressing as the images can be, I want everyone to have a look at them. Please join me in signing the petition and in order to urge the authorities to remove this poor dog from his evil owners. The poor dog is terrified and this might very well not be first abuse he has suffered at the hands of his owners. We must act at once and demand justice for the innocent soul and have him placed in a better home.

Please sign the petition and demand immediate action from the authorities! This sort of behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed without delay. Thank you!

When Stewie’s family decided to move away, they left him behind — and the poor dog waited at their old house for a year, hoping that one day they’d come back for him. The 11-year-old pit bull mix was starving and scared for so long, just trying to make it on his own, until one day someone decided to try and get him help.

Hope for Paws got the call about Stewie and drove out to his home to rescue him. When they arrived they found him hanging out in the yard of the house, hiding in a crawl space, and tried to offer him some food …

… but as soon as he saw them he ran away, so sure that they were there to hurt him.

They watched the terrified dog head down the block a bit, and decided the best thing to do would be to wait for him to come back. He was so attached to that house, so convinced that his family was coming back for him, and they knew he wouldn’t stay away for long …

… and they were right. After a little while, Stewie came back to his house, and rescuers were able to quickly slip a leash over him, ensuring that the loyal dog was finally safe.

Stewie was still pretty scared when his rescuers finally got him, and so they put him into a crate to keep him from trying to run away. A few neighbors helped lift the crate into the waiting car, and everyone was so overjoyed that Stewie was finally headed off to find the loving home he deserved.

They quickly drove Stewie to the vet to get checked out, and after doing an X-ray, they made the heartbreaking discovery that the poor dog had been eating rocks during his time on the streets because he was so hungry. He also had masses all over his body that luckily turned out to be benign, and were all able to be removed.

As he was checked out and cleaned up, the sweet senior dog began to warm up to his rescuers, accepting love and attention for the first time in a year. He seemed to realize he was finally safe, and would never have to resort to eating rocks ever again.

Stewie is now in a fantastic foster home where he has lots of other dog siblings to play with, and people to give him all of the love he’s been wanting for so long. He may be on the older side, but he’s the absolute friendliest dog around, and just wants to find a forever home where he can snuggle and love for the rest of his days.

The community in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, noticed a very skittish collie-like dog hanging around a local park this week. She was all alone in the chilly weather and she also wouldn’t let anyone near her.

Many people worried that the dog wouldn’t survive in the frigid weather, so they contacted Janine Guido, founder of local rescue organization Speranza Animal Rescue. Guido quickly drove to the park to look for the dog, who she named Carla.

Carla stayed in the same spot every day, leading Guido to believe she was abandoned there. Even though her family had left her, she was still waiting for them to come back.

Guido tried to get Carla to come into her car, but the skittish pup kept running away from her. Guido tried giving Carla treats, but Carla still ran away.

“On the first and second day I went out I was able to hand-feed her,” Guido told The Dodo. “However, if I went to loop her with the leash she would back up.”

Guido posted an update about Carla on Speranza Animal Rescue’s Facebook page. She included a photo of Carla waiting patiently for her owners who abandoned her.

Soon after this, Carla disappeared for two days, and Guido worried that the dog was lost for good. But then, she received a call telling her that Carla was hiding under a porch. Guido hurried over there and carefully approached Carla. The poor dog got scared again and ran off.

Just a few hours after this, Guido got a call that Carla had been spotted again. She described what happened next to The Dodo:

“I was able to have her follow me on to a porch. And the two other women blocked both entrances, so she could not escape. I leashed her and the rest is history.”

Guido brought Carla over to the vet, where she learned that the pup was 10 years old and about 10 to 15 pounds underweight. The dog was also exhausted after spending so much time outside, so Guido brought her over to a foster home. Safe and warm, the dog happily went to sleep.

“She’s so sweet, just so scared,” Guido said. “But once she was in my car it was like she knew she was safe.”

Carla is doing very well in her new foster home. She’s enjoying spending time with her new siblings, and she loves her foster mom.

Speranza Animal Rescue did an amazing job looking after this abandoned dog, and thanks to them, Carla is now safe and happy. If you’d like to help Speranza Animal Rescue save more dogs like Carla, consider donating to their organization.
